Dell G7, by far, has one of the quirkiest design schemes we’ve seen on a laptop. The brand has made some elegant color scheme choices that feel professional to the naked eye. Dell G7 is a gaming-centric build, encapsulated in the upper mid-range of gaming laptops.

Dell G7 has a tough pad look with slightly bulky bezels that may deter many thin-bezel fanatics. The laptop bears a Full-HD IPS display that produces sharp colors. The brightness at 250 nits is good enough to be used indoors without any hassle. The laptops’ screen runs at 60Hz out of the box but can be overclocked to 100 Hz with third-party solutions.

The laptop uses a similar hinge to its predecessors but is slightly reinforced with fluid movement. The trackpad is similar to what you’ll find in most laptops with a tiny marker to separate the buttons. The chicklet keyboard is backlit and is vibrant in night mode settings due to the blue light incorporation that puts less strain on the eyes. Dell G7 feature front-firing speaker grill on both sides that are powered by Waves MaxxAudio Pro that produce decent sound output with good pitch.

Conclusion – Should you Buy or Not?

The Dell G7 is not your typical sub-standard gaming machine that just exists to fit into a price point. The laptop uses up to i9 series processors and supports dual channel DDR4 memory. The combination yields a stable performance in CPU intensive AAA titles such as Assasins Creed: Odyssey. The only thing that hurts is the unavailability of an SSD in the base variant. The port selection is very good with faster ethernet and Wi-Fi cards that help the in-vogue game streaming functionality.

The Nvidia GTX series graphic cards are available in 4 and 6 GB of DDR5 video memory that is good enough for most titles. The 1650 and 1660 runs at admissible temperatures without any visible thermal throttling. The graphic cards support DirectX 12 which is required in newer AAA titles. The dual-fan array with radiator fin design ensures proper airflow to the GPU and keeps it cooler than most competitors out there. Dell G7, however, is bulky and lacks a competent battery that hinders the portability aspect. The fin design can be difficult to clean. The newer variants come with RTX graphics cards and an optional 144 Hz panel making is a suitable option for serious gamers.
