The Oppo A12e is an entry-level phone with nothing extraordinary to exhibit. The phone houses average performing components that do not try to tussle with mid-range tier devices. The phone’s body is built out of plastic material that will provide zero protection in case of an abrupt fall.
The phone does not possess any idiosyncrasies and is just another hit-and-miss in the already abundant entry-level segment. The phone seems to have incorporated the design of the earlier released A3 with just a camera increment and minor refinements. The color scheme of the phone’s body is very bold unappealing.
The phone lacks a fingerprint sensor and relies on face unlock along with the traditional security methods. The AI face-unlock comes with its own challenges as well and performs poorly in low light conditions.
The screen has adopted the HD+ resolution due to the increased length of the phones. The IPS LCD display at 720*1520 pixels is not super-detailed and gets cropped in most apps due to the old Android 8.1 OS with limited support. The makers have not hinted at any future OS upgrades while many cheaper devices come with Android 9 and above in the present market.
Pros / GOOD
- It uses Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 as primary chipset driver
- A powerful battery with 4230mAh capacity
- Easily maneuverable at the body-weight of 168 grams
- The IPS display is a nice addition at this price point
- The headphone jack is present
- A full-fledged sim tray which supports memory card expandability
Cons / BAD
- Operating System is outdated
- RAM capacity is very low 3gb
- Pixel density is low despite an IPS display
- No dual 4G sim support
- Fast charging support but only a 10-watt charger included
- Color OS 5.1 does not offer any visible optimization
- Image capturing is mediocre at best

Conclusion – Should you Buy or Not?
The Oppo A12e is not designed to astound you, it is just a monotonous iteration that will not be well received by most of the users. The phone’s screen fails to produce vivid colors and appears blurry in videos with in-depth blacks. The discarding of the fingerprint sensor has not yielded in newer, robust features. The phone is incapable of playing GPU intensive games at even medium settings. The ram optimization is a questionable issue with only close to 1GB freely available memory with just 2-3 applications in the background. A 4GB offering would have propelled its performance to the next level.
The camera is lack-luster with a poor AI-support that produces dark, distorted colors with too much noise and inferior OIS in video recordings. However, there is still an abundant number of the less-affluent section of the population striving to buy their first smartphone and the phone can be an option for those on a tiny budget.
