The Oppo A72 does not exactly mimic its ancestor A71. It receives a much-needed upgrade from the A71 and is deemed to lie in the mid-range price segment. The construction and design have experienced a forward leap with a thin-bezel display and a punch-hole selfie camera with a 3D Quad-Curve Design as mentioned by Oppo.  The big 6.5 inches display comes with an overall bodyweight of 192 grams making it slightly bulky for a mid-range spec phone.

The phone’s camera module has incorporated the popular quad-core arrangement with all the sensors that you won’t expect from a mid-range offering. The primary rear camera is of 48 megapixels along with 8, 2, and 2 megapixels of wide-angle, telephoto, and macro sensors. While the offering seems generous, the DxO mark score will truly determine its efficacy in the coming months.

The camera is AI-powered which will hide any shortcomings encountered while image capture with vivid renderings that tend to seem doctored if scouted by a keen eye. The phone is powered by the Snapdragon 665 chipset which guarantees superior performance than other similar ARM-based processors. The RAM capacity starts from 4Gigs and is capped at 8gigs for now.

Conclusion – Should you Buy or Not?

Summing it up, the phone does bring a new touch and feel with it. The specs could have been better but that is compensated by a good battery capacity which lasts up to 12 hours on normal use. The Color OS supports the intricacies of Android 10 but limits its performance because of the unnecessary, non-removable bloatware that comes with it. The phone supports fast charging via a type-c USB port and comes with an 18-watt fast charger. The phone has positioned the fingerprint senior side making it accessible while holding the phone. The Oppo A72 is recommended for everyday usage with light gaming hours to ensure viability.
