The Oppo Reno Ace 2 is a gorgeous looking phone destined to make its mark in the mid-range mobile segment. With competitors like OnePlus 8, the journey does seem perilous, but it manages to steal some spotlight.

The Oppo Reno Ace 2 has a 6.5 inch OLED screen with FHD+ resolution and a narrow-bezel wrapping all around the device. The screen has experienced a refresh rate overhaul from 60Hz to 90Hz in the latest version. This attribute further propels the viewing experience on the device with fluid animations and stutter less video playback.

The phone sports a circular contour camera with a quad-camera module that comes with a primary 48-megapixel sensor, an 8 -megapixel ultra-wide sensor with two depth sensors. The camera produces decent rendering with zero-pixelations and natural color schemes. The camera supports 10x digital zoom, but images get densely-pixelated with washed color tones.

The battery at 4000mAh is not the best, but high-end component incorporation requires minor sacrifices which in this case, is the battery. The phone compensates for the inadequacy with 65-watt fast charging support that refuels the battery in under 30 minutes. No, it’s not a marketing ploy, as established with the Reno Ace which charges under the 30-minutes bracket.

Conclusion – Should you Buy or Not?

The Reno Ace 2, by no means, is a feeble phone. The phone’s top of the line components with careful optimization yields an overall acceptable performance. The 90Hz refresh rate is noticeable while gaming on GPU intensive titles and makes the response time smoother with zero stutters. The phone also supports a similar capacity of wireless charging that is best achieved by using the Oppo manufactured wireless charger. The camera, however,3 is a minor letdown, in-terms of what it can deliver. The phone supports only 1080p video recording due to the absence of a telephoto sensor and can shoot in 30 fps only. The screen is less susceptible to scratches because of Gorilla Glass V5 infusion on the screen.

The phone does not lag even in 90Hz while gaming and gets moderately hot even with extreme settings playback and can be an option for avid gamers. The battery is what riles everyone up in a high-spec model like this one. But owing to the 65-watt fast charging support that operates with the same capacity in both wired and wireless mode, the phone gets ready for the next job in a jiffy. The Reno Ace 2 is a worthy entry to the mid-range, pseudo flagship lineup with powerful features and a compact design that is maneuverable and useful. The Color OS has seen improvements that have contributed to the steadily optimized device making it suitable for stunning visuals and longer gaming sessions.
