The Xiaomi MI phones attract heightened attention with each newer iteration. The MI 9 Pro has done some minor but necessary upgrades that propel its performance. MI 9 Pro has similar dimensions as compared to its predecessor but is slightly heavy due to the increased battery capacity. The phone houses a 6.39 inches SUPER AMOLED display with the recent HDR 10 supports that induces deeper color production and reduces glare to the eyes. The Corning Gorilla Glass 6 is present on the front while version 5 is crafted on the backside of the phone with aluminum material on the sides, making it stronger than before.

The phone features Snapdragon 855 Plus chipset which is targeted at the flagship gaming experience on the phone and is slightly faster than the earlier 855 variants. The chipset delivers adequate gaming power while running HDR-enabled titles at good framerates. The chipset, sadly, does not support 5G networks and can be a minor inconvenience in the present year. The phone comes with 8GB and 12GB ram variants which is enough to keep applications running in the background without periodically restarting them. The MIUI 11 is precisely tuned to ensure a smoother Android 10 experience on this device.

Conclusion – Should you Buy or Not?

The phone has a triple-camera setup that produces pixel-dense photos with vivid colors and suppressed noise. The laser autofocus and 2x optical zoom induce a variety while capturing objects that slightly blurs the unnecessary background intrusions. The rear camera supports 4K recording at 60fps / 30fps, 1080p recording         at 60fps / 30fps, but appears slightly more detailed in 1080p mode. The front camera is also capable of 1080p videos but lacks definitiveness and focus in the renderings.

The phone has amped up the battery to 4000mAh from the earlier version and now supports 40-watt wired fast charging. The wireless charging has increased its capacity by 50 % and now supports 30-watt wireless charging and varies with the charger type. The 10-watt reverse charging keeps your frequently exhausting wireless buds in check. The phone is adept with the specs game and houses powerful components that deliver a stellar experience with minimal lags and stutters. The lightweight curved design makes it easier to maneuver and provides a decent grip. The NFC sensor on the device supports Android Pay and can also use tags to perform dedicated tasks such as triggering the silent mode by a single tap. The MI 9 Pro honors its predecessor’s legacy and adds charm to it with improved features.
